Busy. Focused. Happy.

The best man won!

The intern/election/engagement/Guy Fawkes party of last night - hosted by Jessie & Juanita, our admin interns - had some particularly tense moments whilst number-watching. Not only when I was willing Virginia on to do me proud & be Blue. I guess it all worked out well in the end.

Party food.

In America, cookies can be served 'naked'.  You dress your own.
Bring on the frosting!

    Official Function #1

 Lynn's birthday.

We created Trifle from everyone's offerings.

The cake was white.

"Angel Food" - from egg whites only.

Tasty.
Light.

Official Function beverage in VRT mugs.
Because we're classy also.

I had an almost Happening Story to tell, to do with this one time that the theatre got new letters to say "November Theatre" window-boxes out front & the Genie Boom got its wheel stuck in the sidewalk & a car wrecker (tow-truck) had to come the next day to hoik it out.

Pretty funny.

But I missed a trick. So here's an Evening After picture from after the wheel was extracted and the hole patched over and the area cordoned off.

It's a shame Costume Shop is so other-world sometimes.

__________

Working Lunch today with Sarah & Wendy
(miniscule title: SM; title which actually encompasses everything she does: Assistant Technical Director. She has her finger on the pulse of every rehearsal, every exit, every character cut or change made, & there's been a few of those alright.)

Wendy's from Honkers. A true Northerner: Straight-talking. No nonsense. Knows her stuff. Good sense of humour. We get along well. This morning exchange:

Wendy: "Nikki, I'd like you to be my Head Dresser."
             Me:  (face-pulling) .... "Errrr....."

This is one crazybusy packed-out happening show. We talked some more. I said Yes.

I'm expecting carnage for three days, during which Sarah'll be around & after that, well-choreographed changes. It's gonna be just fine. "We can do it!Right?

Lunch was productive. We went over every single change for each of the seven principals & every ensemble change - what it consisted of, the timing available, which wing or room we could house the change in, here any on-stage garments would exit to, any of the necessary pre-sets. Four hours later, another stack of notes on yellow paper & a whole new concept formed (: 'They'll be fine. They have Bavarian time!' cf : 51 seconds.) Done.
Now just to watch a run-through tonight & see what it looks like at large. Something I never managed to do with K&I so I'm certainly glad of this tech week's window of opportunity.

(Just. Fine.)
________

Words of the Week

Gherkins do not exist here. That's a European term apparently.
It's purely & simply about the Pickle. I started to tell about The Gherkin. Minus the moniker, it sort of loses something in the telling-of.

Oh, & the other one: Night stick. Billy club ...  Any guesses?
Clue: "Tawantawa! Tawantawa!"

.
.
....  Truncheon.

Wraggle Pops got it in one, being better educated than yours truly:

"Too easy for watchers of Universal Channel's American crime series!!!
"
