In & amongst the feedback from the season was that it would've been helpful to have seen the sights of the city early on so that later, when more time allowed, we already had a feel for the place. I had done my own exploring & city-walking from the start so when Intern Outing Day arrived, I'd seen a few of the places already. Katie was aware of this & promised the second day would be a newer experience for me. For the summer interns though, it was probably good to know what was on our doorstep.
The day started at Willow Lawn for "Coffee & Conversations" with a talk for the patrons from the marketing department. From there, down to the Poe Museum for a well-informed albeit speedy tour around the exhibits.
From there to City Hall to take advantage of its upper level: the Observation Deck.

The OD was cool & breezy & set up in such a way that I think the staff who work in the building can lunch or break up there as desired. (They have an in-house Padow's too.)
I thought I'd take a few photos of Richmond On High to give a sense of the city's layout as seen from above.

The first window I arrived at was however, Richmond: the Sandpit.
Not too strong a choice. Moving swiftly on... |
My favourite, Old City Hall & the Capitol just behind. |
HJM lettering is visible from pretty much anywhere downtown. |
The arty roof to the right belongs to the Carpenter Theatre (Richmond CenterStage) below. |
Down Broad Street ... Somewhere on the left, there's a red dome & opposite that, is the Rep. |
