Workin' like a (storm)trooper,

Today just went up a gear or two.

Felt like Christmas this morning as I got to unpack the boxes from Utah, from the director's previous run of TP. We're hiring headdresses & ensemble outfits mostly. This is totally unconventional behaviour for the costume shop. Normally everything would be made, bought or taken from stock. But the Utah headdresses are something else entirely, in terms of spectacle & scale (giant pretzel or bratwurst hat, anyone?) I am glad we don't also need to knock a few of them up in the next week & a half.

Fitting Central. I was Keeper of the Notes, tracking all costumes. What to buy/pull from stock/alter; recording any alterations whilst forming the basis of each character's costume plots & QCs. Met two of the ensemble boys, our first trier-ons for both the Bavarian & the Little Old Lady characters. They loved their costumes & thought they'd do their grandmas proud. (I've already got Josh down as "Doris" in my notes.) Also met two of our principal leads who'll be playing Max & Ullah.

Favourite quote from Fittings:
"We are not a museum."
(As in, it's okay to cut & hem & tweak!)

Also, Jason (playing Max) tried on a few robes, passing a satin paisley one off as "I feel like I'm in The King & I. " Well, I'm more than equipped to be dressing for that one!

Final fittings of the day at Willow Lawn after hours, for the 24 little 'uns (double cast) in Made-line's. 22/24 measured up ain't bad at all. Sarah's still working on getting Chase, the director on side over berets...
