FGT with Megan.

Some light years ago, I read this book
Fast forward four years or so & I found myself at liberty to try them.

Four months ago, Megan & I were meant to meet for a birthday brunch.  I'd been asked if I'd tried the Southern dish & we'd decided there & then that it had to happen & to happen properly & in style when it did.

Four months to the day, we made it.

Fried Green Tomatoes at the Comfort cafe.

I hadn't carried out any background reading on the matter. I just knew they were fried & green & tomatoey. Waiting awhile at the bar with a Hardywood in hand, The Glory of Southern Cooking advised me as to coatings of breadcrumbs, cornmeal & flour. Figures.

H2O.
This is funny.
Mason jars are linked to the use of canning homemade produce
as well as historically, homemade liquor. In a word, moonshine.
We are in the South after all & not too far from the mountains.

"See, Mason jars, for distillers of a certain mindset, are part and parcel
of an authentic moonshine experience. For some, it just isn’t really shine at all
unless it comes in screw-top jar."
- The Mason Jar Turns 150

*drum-roll*

NB: It's what's on the inside which counts.
That's where the Green is.

Pretty darn tasty.
