Biscuits with BC.

It all started one morning online when I couldn't sleep. BC had posted a Guardian article on Shakespeare & gender. From there, the slippery slope into sparring on Shakespearean terms. It so happened that BC had directed an all-female Macbeth a few years back. We agreed to check out together Taymor's The Tempest with "Prospera" as played by Helen Mirren. We wanted to know how far it would affect the gender politics & the dynamics between characters, like Prospero/Miranda; Prospero/Antonio & so on.  #ilovemyWilly

Where there is DVD, there is food. Biscuits were agreed upon.

 - ME:  I quote, "Julie Taymor’s The Tempest is your new late night drunken pizza orgy movie." Now *there's* a review title.

- BC: Wow! We shall make it 'the new mid-day biscuit-eating, gender-discussing movie!'

I scanned the shelves at K.Roger only to learn from the boy from Kentucky:

"We are making them from scratch."

(Ah, biscuits.

An Education:

It's not your fine British HobNob I'm referring to here.
These are the delicious American bread-type savories which look like our scones but are softer in texture & sometimes saltier. Good for breakfast. I've eaten them with eggs before. BC brought along Apple Butter; also a good topping.)

So that was that.
The man in action.  Mix! Mix! Mix!

This was our comparison test.
(There was no comparison.)

Out came the cookie cutters again!

Clockwise from top left:
apple butter, Virginia biscuit,
unkneaded test biscuit,
scrambled eggs,
turkey biscuit, pumpkin biscuit.

Given it was a day of discovery, I also thought I'd try Grits. Best described as a kind of salty oatmeal or the texture of cous-cous. Definitely best served with cheese. Nae bad.

Words of the Week:

- Cookie Sheet : Baking Tray. I tried to mock BC for it (given that we weren't making cookies) until I then called the spatula a "fish slice". (Erm, we weren't slicing fish either. Fail.)

-
"Turn signal" = Indicator.

Evening plans took us to Bogart's to meet with Katie (Intern Co) for Trivia. BC engaged in "illegal warfare tactics" by using me to add weight to the argument that Matt should also join us for drinks & karaoke ....

... And then there were 4!

.... which led to the Great Shirt Trade-Off. (Of which there are no photos as Katie's morning-after review led her to conclude that the evidence of which was not pretty.)

Things I learned:  The entire first latitude line of the US. Here goes:
inhale:  WA. ID. MT. ND. MN. WI. {water} MI. NY. / ^ ME.   Yay!

Plus de schenanigans
Bandito's on Wednesday.
PBR = $1.  Hence the Tower.
