The cast generally can't quite manage Northern so nine weeks in & fifty shows later, we're still all conversing in Cockney, with occasional forays into Scottish. (Although Scotty's favourite Piper/Ecclestone exchange still re-appears occasionally:
Rose: "If you are an alien, how come you sound like you're from the North?"________
The Doctor: "Lots of planets have a North!")
On Sweeping Generalisations of England:
Last night saw a little bit of schmoozing from within the House (the Novembers had come to visit) & some interesting marketing ahead of Hay Fever, appealing directly to the Richmonders' voracious love of English noble houses whilst producing another geographical speal from myself backstage, waiting for Curtain Up.
"Think Downton Abbey!" - No! Don't think Downton. That's the North!
(Julian Fellowes & Noel Coward - crossed fingers - like That, apparently...)
Elliott joined in, creating other unseemly comparisons to make me laugh...
"The Importance of Being Earnest - just like Upstairs Downstairs!"
"If you liked Dr. Who, you'll love Warhorse!" :)
It's been a blast. |
Jason to Scotty (from inside the Roof set, at the top of I.v):
"We've got to go out there to save the First Act!
